New robots in Gross Breitenbach

Although they are still a rarity on the public roads, fully automated, self-driving robots are already commonplace in innovative warehouses. At the new KeyKeg production line in Gross Breitenbach, Germany, robots have taken on some of the warehouse work. Two fully automated forklifts monitor the supplies of PET preforms for two blow molding machines and ensure a constant supply. The robots take the new KeyKegs to the storage depot.

They travel along clearly defined routes and are equipped with 360-degree sensors that stop the robots as soon as obstacles or people come within 60 cm of them. The robots are called Bert and Dirk, after the founding fathers of the KeyKeg production lines, Bert Hanssen and Jan-Dirk Veenendaal.

The environmentally friendly one-way keg

We take our environment into account, even during the design phase. A KeyKeg more than meets European Union environmental criteria. The KeyKeg will eventually be made from over 50% recycled PET, and our goal is to recycle every KeyKeg to produce new KeyKegs.
