Collection pilots for KeyKeg

Inzamelpilots KeyKegs.jpg

The first KeyKegs made with repurposed materials from old kegs have been produced. In the meantime, Lightweight Containers has started with the next challenge. At various large beer festivals in the Netherlands and the UK, KeyKegs are being collected. This happens in close cooperation with external parties, from beverage distributors to the catering industry. The pilot would be impossible without the help of local municipalities and recycling companies.

Worldwide roll out
Bert Hanssen, CTO of Lightweight Containers explained the following regarding the progress of collection, “We are impressed by the cooperation we are seeing from brewers, beverage distributors as well as the food and beverage service industry. Leaders in recycling are actively cooperating and we can count on the support from our local authorities.”

Hanssen continued, “A KeyKeg produced from the materials of recycled kegs fits into a climate-neutral policy and contributes to the objectives of a circular economy. We have noticed that plastic recycling in still in its infancy. As an innovative company we are creatively looking for efficient collection models that we can roll out worldwide.”

The environmentally friendly one-way keg

We take our environment into account, even during the design phase. A KeyKeg more than meets European Union environmental criteria. The KeyKeg will eventually be made from over 50% recycled PET, and our goal is to recycle every KeyKeg to produce new KeyKegs.
