Cider is served in bottles, but increasingly on draught, and KeyKeg® is an ideal system for draught cider. Many cider producers have already switched to these disposable lightweight kegs. Take a look at our online platform www.KeyKegusers.com to see which producers have already made the transition.
An opened bottle of cider quickly loses CO2 and flavor because of the effect of oxidation from the air. Even with standard kegs, there are negative effects from the dispensing gas, but this is not the case with the KeyKeg. As opposed to standard kegs, the cider only comes in contact with the laminated inner bag, not with the dispensing gas. There is no headspace in the bag meaning the cider stays in perfect condition for several weeks after tapping. Bars can offer a wide range of ciders on draught.
Lightweight Containers produces also a keg system with Double Wall - and Spear Technology: www.unikeg.com.
Every KeyKeg Slimline is made with Double Wall™ technology. Two walls work together dynamically, making the keg considerably stronger, safer and more reliable. A KeyKeg Slimline can withstand higher pressures and is extremely damage-resistant.
KeyKegs are easy to fill using automatic and semi-automatic filling machines. On our website, you will find three suppliers of filling systems. The kegs can also be filled manually. All the requirements for manual filling can be found at KeyKeg webshop. All KeyKeg cider tap heads and filling heads have 316-steel probes, to avoid any loss of quality.
The hospitality industry and many beverage distributors prefer cider in KeyKegs rather than in bottles or steel kegs. This makes sense, as hospitality companies want to supply a wide range of products that will stay fresh for long periods in the keg. That’s only possible with KeyKeg. In contrast with steel kegs, a KeyKeg can dispense more or less to the last drop.
An added advantage is that a KeyKeg saves transport and handling costs when compared with steel kegs. Compared with bottles, the savings are even greater. A KeyKeg also requires considerably less storage space and fewer transport movements. Even the cleaning of return kegs is no longer necessary.
Every KeyKeg saves around 60% on transport costs, and water and chemical intensive cleaning is no longer necessary. Every KeyKeg is recyclable and a KeyKeg Slimline consists of around 30% recycled plastics. A KeyKeg 30 weighs 1.4 kgs. and replaces no less than 22 kgs. of glass. The KeyKeg is therefore considerably more sustainable than bottles and other forms of packaging.
We take our environment into account, even during the design phase. A KeyKeg more than meets European Union environmental criteria. The KeyKeg Slimline will eventually be made from over 50% recycled PET, and our goal is to recycle every KeyKeg to produce new KeyKegs.Read more
